Legal, investigative, regulatory, and policy organizations throughout Australia seek professionals with psychological expertise to help analyze and address forensic matters. The Master of Psychology (Forensic) equips students to fulfill the growing need for specialists in this domain. Launched in 1998, this program emphasizes the combination of clinical, research, and legal competencies. The curriculum includes psychological evaluation, forensic psychology interventions and applications, legal frameworks for psychologists, and ethical professional conduct. Alongside coursework, students undertake a research thesis, presented as an academic journal article, focusing on a forensic psychology topic. Forensic psychologists engage with all professional intersections between psychology and the legal system. They work in diverse environments such as correctional facilities, judicial settings, law enforcement, community supervision, youth justice systems, policy development, insurance sectors, social services, and child welfare.
