Crime and justice systems are critical topics that spark widespread public debate and disagreement. Evolving challenges demand fresh perspectives on traditional criminological theories and legal frameworks. While modern technologies and judicial innovations present potential benefits, they also raise concerns about protecting legal rights and maintaining justice system credibility.

The Criminal Justice and Criminology specialization within the Master of Laws program equips students with sophisticated interdisciplinary tools to examine contemporary issues, novel challenges, and evolving trends in criminal law and justice. This program builds on UNSW's established reputation in criminal justice education and research, covering substantive law and procedural aspects. Students can additionally explore subjects addressing global trends, international criminal law, human rights protections, and the growing field of state crime studies.
