The Master of Global Health (Extension) (MGHext) provides graduates with essential public health expertise to address diverse and challenging population health concerns worldwide. This program prepares students for research careers while promoting evidence-based professional practice in the global health field.
The MGHext offers an interdisciplinary perspective on global health education. Students can expand their research capabilities through supplementary methodology courses or an advanced research project focused on global health topics. Grounded in public health principles, the curriculum explores disease prevention, health system comparisons, health promotion strategies, and policy development across various populations and nations. Furthermore, the program investigates power dynamics in global health, major philosophical debates, and contemporary issues including globalization's health impacts, decolonization processes, human rights considerations, environmental factors, urbanization trends, and demographic changes.

Qualification Requirements

For entry into this program, you must have one of the following: An undergraduate degree in a field relevant to public health or health management and two years full-time professional or volunteer experience. This may also include equivalent professional experience acquired as part of a degree of four or more years duration (e.g., MBBS, MD). An undergraduate degree plus an honours or postgraduate degree in a field relevant to public health or health management. In exceptional circumstances, applicants with extensive relevant professional work experience (e.g., hospital-trained nurses, paramedics, Aboriginal health workers) may be considered. A minimum of five years full-time relevant professional experience is required and an interview with the School of Population Health may be conducted. IELTS - 6.5 overall (min. 6.0 in each subtest) TOEFL iBT - 90 overall (min. 23 in writing, 22 in reading, listening and speaking)
