Upon successfully completing 48 Units of Credit through coursework, students will receive the Graduate Diploma of Mining Engineering, available for both full-time and part-time study. Most courses are structured as intensive modules, allowing mining industry professionals and service providers to participate while working. Be aware that certain elective courses might only be available biennially.
Entry to the Graduate Diploma program requires a 3 year degree in Mining Engineering or related cognate discipline (3 or 4 years) from a recognised institution, or satisfying the requirements of the UNSW Graduate Certificate in Mining Engineering with a minimum 65% average and no course fails, or with permission from the Head of School or Director of Postgraduate Studies (Coursework).
The UNSW School of Minerals and Energy Resources Engineering defines a related cognate discipline as related Engineering degrees (Chemical, Electrical, Environmental, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Metallurgy, Petroleum) or physical Science degrees (Geology, Physics, Chemistry).
A minimum 65% average is required over the final two (2) years of the degree. A minimum of 1 year relevant industry experience is essential for all applicants with a 3 year degree.
English Language Requirements:
IELTS: 6.5 overall (min. 6.0 in each subtest); TOEFL IBT (Internet Based): 90 overall (min. 23 in writing, 22 in reading, listening and speaking); Pearson (PTE - Academic): 64 overall (min. 54 in each subtest); C1 Advanced Cambridge: 176 overall (min. 169 in each subtest); C2 Proficiency Cambridge: 180 overall (min. 180 in each subtest); UNSW Global University English Entry Course (UEEC): Successful completion with a minimum overall grade of C+ and a minimum grade of C in the writing component.
