The Graduate Diploma in Design is a one-year professional program comprising eight courses from the Master of Design curriculum. This program explores design methodologies, practical applications, and historical contexts while developing skills in design communication and research. Students will also select three additional courses from specialized areas and studio electives such as Spatial Experiences, Interaction Design and UX, Visualization and Visual Effects, Future Making, Graphic Communication, Planar Practices, and Temporal/Spatial Practices. Admission to the Graduate Diploma in Design requires a Bachelors degree in any field, conferred within the last 10 years, or a Graduate Certificate in Design. Applicants who apply with a bachelors degree completed more than 10 years ago can be admitted to the Graduate Certificate in Design where they have 5 or more years professional experience in a design or media-related field since graduation. They can articulate up to the Graduate Diploma if they hold a credit average in their courses taken under the Graduate Certificate. Applicants without a Bachelors degree may be admitted to the Graduate Certificate on a case-by-case basis by the Program Director, on the basis of a Portfolio of work and professional experience. The student may articulate up to the Graduate Diploma if they hold a credit average in their courses taken under the Graduate Certificate.
English Language Requirements:
IELTS: 6.5 overall (min. 6.0 in each subtest); TOEFL IBT (Internet Based): 90 overall (min. 23 in writing, 22 in reading, listening and speaking); Pearson (PTE - Academic): 64 overall (min. 54 in each subtest); C1 Advanced Cambridge: 176 overall (min. 169 in each subtest); C2 Proficiency Cambridge: 180 overall (min. 180 in each subtest); UNSW Global University English Entry Course (UEEC): Successful completion with a minimum overall grade of C+ and a minimum grade of C in the writing component.
