The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Marketing at UNSW equips you to emerge as an internationally oriented and socially conscious research pioneer. You'll join a group of outstanding research students addressing contemporary challenges at the cutting edge of Marketing, collaborating with top experts in the discipline (ranked 44th globally in QS Subject Rankings 2022). This program offers you the chance to become part of UNSW Business School's vibrant academic community. Most accepted candidates begin with the pathway program, the Master of Pre-Doctoral Business Studies (MPDBS). For those selected for Direct Entry into the PhD program, either before or after completing the MPDBS, the minimum commitment is 35-40 weekly hours for 3-4 years (full-time) or 15 hours weekly (part-time). The program starts with intensive coursework in theoretical frameworks, empirical research, and methodological approaches. Early involvement in research projects forms a key component, providing you with essential skills to recognize, examine, and resolve complex issues in the Marketing field.

Qualification Requirements

The minimum requirement for admission to a PhD is:

A UNSW Bachelor degree with first or upper second class Honours from UNSW, or
a completed Master by Research from UNSW with a substantial research component and demonstrated capacity for timely completion of a high quality research thesis, or
an equivalent qualification from a tertiary institution as determined by the Faculty Higher Degree Committee (HDC)

IELTS - 7.0 overall (min 7.0 in writing, 6.5 in other subtests)
TOEFL iBT - 96 overall (min. 27 in writing, 23 in reading, listening and speaking)
