The Medical Science Honours program provides undergraduate students with an introduction to medical research. Participants complete a guided research project focusing on scientific methodologies, specialized techniques, analytical reasoning, and effective scientific communication through written reports and oral presentations. These research projects can be conducted across various laboratories in the School of Medical Sciences (SoMS), associated Hospitals and Research Institutes/Centers, or other departments within the Faculty of Medicine.

Students are expected to have completed the requirements for a three year full-time undergraduate Bachelor degree - typically these are a minimum overall WAM (weighted average mark) of a credit, and a completed major within the desired honours discipline.
