The School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences (BEES) provides several Honours programs, including Marine Science. The Marine Science Honours program immerses undergraduates in research and projects related to physical, environmental, and ecological sciences, with a focus on marine, aquatic, and coastal systems. Under supervision, students complete a research project that emphasizes scientific methodology, specialized techniques, analytical reasoning, and effective scientific communication through written reports and presentations. This program adopts a learning approach where students embrace their 'researcher identity' to cultivate these competencies and advanced subject-matter expertise with increasing autonomy. Spanning three terms, the curriculum features a Research Proposal (incorporating an in-depth literature review and risk assessment) alongside a significant, semi-independent Research Project. These elements are supplemented by structured seminars and workshops covering graduate skills such as scientific writing, risk management, ethics, career readiness, as well as School and Institute/Centre seminars.
