The School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences (BEES) provides several Honours programs, including one focused on Geology. The Geology Honours program exposes undergraduate students to research and project activities pertinent to diverse fields within earth and geosciences. Participants conduct guided research projects that emphasize scientific methodologies, specialized techniques, analytical reasoning, and effective scientific communication through written reports and presentations. This program's educational approach encourages students to embrace their role as researchers, fostering skill development and advanced subject knowledge with increasing autonomy. Spanning three sessions, the curriculum features a Research Proposal (comprising an in-depth literature review and risk assessment) along with a significant independent Research Project, closely mentored by BEES faculty. These elements are supplemented by structured seminars and workshops that enhance graduate competencies, including scientific communication, risk management, ethical considerations, and career readiness, alongside school-wide (and Institute/Center) seminar series.
