The School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences (BEES) provides several Honours programs, including one in Geography. The Geography Honours program immerses undergraduates in research and project activities applicable to both physical and social environmental sciences. Under academic supervision, students complete a research project that emphasizes scientific methodology, specialized techniques, analytical reasoning, and effective communication through written reports and presentations. This program adopts a learner-centered approach where students embrace their 'researcher identity' to cultivate these competencies and advanced subject-matter expertise with growing autonomy. Spanning three academic sessions, the curriculum features a Research Proposal (incorporating literature review and risk assessment) along with a major independent Research Project guided by BEES faculty. These core elements are supplemented by structured seminars and workshops covering graduate skills (scientific writing, risk evaluation, ethical considerations, and career preparation) as well as institutional research seminars.
