The School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences (BEES) provides multiple Honours programs, including one focused on Biology. The Biology Honours program immerses undergraduates in research and project-based learning relevant to diverse biological science fields. Participants complete a guided research project emphasizing scientific methodology, specialized techniques, analytical reasoning, and professional communication through written reports and presentations. This program's educational approach encourages students to embrace their role as researchers, fostering independent development of advanced skills and subject expertise. Spanning three academic sessions, the curriculum features a Research Proposal (potentially incorporating an in-depth literature review and risk assessment) along with a significant independent Research Project supervised by BEES faculty. These core elements are supplemented by structured seminars and workshops covering essential professional skills like scientific communication, risk management, ethics, and career preparation, as well as academic seminars hosted by the School and affiliated Institutes/Centers.
