The Bachelor of Media (Honours) is a one-year intensive program designed for top-performing students who have completed an undergraduate degree in Media. This advanced course allows participants to broaden and enhance their expertise in Media while cultivating valuable analytical, problem-solving, and research capabilities through either a substantial independent thesis or a practice-led research initiative.
The Communications & Journalism Honours pathway entails completing 48 UOC (equivalent to one year of full-time study or two years part-time).

This Honours program combines seminar participation with either a research thesis or practical project. It includes 18 UOC of coursework and 30 UOC dedicated to the thesis/practical component. Students can choose between conducting original research culminating in a 15,000-word thesis or pursuing a year-long practical research project accompanied by a 7,000-10,000 word written analysis.

Qualification Requirements

Students must have completed the UNSW Bachelor of Media Arts or other cognate recognised Level 7 qualification. Entry to Honours requires a WAM of 70 or higher (or equivalent) in the relevant Level 7 qualification prior to entry. Entry is subject to resources and the approval of the Deputy Head of School, Art.

IELTS - 6.5 overall (min. 6.0 in each subtest)
TOEFL iBT - 90 overall (min. 23 in writing, 22 in reading, listening and speaking)
