Chemical Product Engineering focuses on investigating, creating, and enhancing everyday products by carefully choosing and designing their materials. Professionals in this field develop the liquids we regularly use, ranging from chemical items like cosmetics, medicines, hair care products, coatings, and adhesives to food and beverages. As a product engineer, you'll acquire skills to translate consumer demands into technical specifications, identifying optimal chemical mixtures to achieve desired characteristics before advancing the product through commercialization and manufacturing strategies. You'll gain expertise in utilizing engineering and chemical principles to craft sophisticated chemical solutions for sectors like pharmaceuticals, consumer goods, and food production. The curriculum covers the complete innovation cycle, from experimenting with product concepts to scaling up laboratory formulations for mass production. During the culminating Product Design Project, you'll collaborate with industry leaders to refine a new consumer item to patent-ready status. To prepare for professional practice, you'll complete 60 days of supervised industry experience.
