The Bachelor of Arts and Social Sciences (Honours) is a 48-unit advanced undergraduate program designed for high-achieving students, equivalent to one year of full-time study. This degree builds upon an undergraduate pass degree in Arts, International Studies, or Social Research and Policy. Students typically pursue honours within their chosen major from their previous degree. The program emphasizes enhancing analytical and research capabilities, expanding subject knowledge, and applying discipline-specific methodologies.
The Media, Culture and Technology Honours stream requires completing 48 units, which can be undertaken full-time over one year or part-time across two years.
This honours pathway combines seminar participation with either a research thesis or practical project. The curriculum includes 18 units of coursework and 30 units dedicated to a thesis or practical project. Students may choose between conducting original research culminating in a 15,000-word thesis or undertaking a year-long research project involving practical work accompanied by a 7,000-10,000 word written component.
