Qualification Requirements

Entry is based on a Bachelor of Education or equivalent, graduate certificate or graduate diploma in a relevant discipline with relevant research preparation, or a Master of Education with GPA, other qualifications, or relevant experience.

To be eligible to apply for this course you must meet one of the following entry requirements:
You have completed one of the following qualifications with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 5.0:
Bachelor qualification (AQF Level 7 or overseas equivalent) in Education.
Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma (AQF Level 8 or overseas equivalent) in a relevant discipline. You must also have had adequate relevant preparation since graduation.*
Master of Education (AQF Level 9 or overseas equivalent).
Adequate preparation for candidature may be satisfied by means of other qualifications and/or relevant experience but must be assessed and approved by the Head of School of relevant delegate.
Please note: You must also meet the English Language Requirements for all Higher Degree by Research candidates. Please see the Additional Requirements section below for further information.

Eligibility for admission is reviewed by the Head of School or delegate (for example, Higher Degree Research (HDR) Coordinator) under the oversight of the Associate Dean Research (ADR).

If you are intending to undertake the Special Education component in this course, you must have a minimum of two years of full-time (or part-time equivalent) professional experience in special education, completed after conferral of your relevant qualification. You must also have completed a minimum of 1 unit in special education.

An IELTS(Academic) overall score of at least 6.5 with no sub-band score less than 6.0 (or equivalent TOEFL score of at least 91 in the internet-based test with no less than 22 in the written component and 20 in listening, speaking and reading), or a Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic minimum overall score of 64 with no skill less than 58, or
