UNE's Bachelor of Rural Science prepares you to lead in agriculture by developing advanced problem-solving skills for diverse farming systems worldwide. This program equips you with practical scientific expertise to tackle emerging industry challenges while providing comprehensive knowledge of sustainable agricultural systems - covering soil science, plant and animal production, alongside environmental, social and economic factors. You'll emerge as a future-ready professional capable of excelling in farm management, corporate agriculture, or scientific research.
The four-year Bachelor of Rural Science at UNE delivers the critical knowledge and hands-on abilities that modern agriculture demands. You'll develop a robust, science-driven comprehension of intricate farming systems, preparing you to guide agricultural businesses to prosperity. Outstanding students can pursue Honours in their final year, conducting specialized research that may lead to postgraduate opportunities like a Master's or PhD. Choosing agriculture at UNE means you can:
Acquire valuable work experience by applying classroom concepts in real agricultural operations, enhancing your career prospects.
Tailor your education by specializing in one of eight focus areas including climate adaptation, sustainability, genetics, or specific production systems.
Work with cutting-edge agricultural technologies across UNE's eight SMART Farms spanning 3,655 hectares. These working farms - featuring everything from campus plots to commercial feedlots - serve as living laboratories for grazing, cropping, livestock, and precision agriculture studies.
Expand your learning through industry excursions to partner operations.
Develop practical skills using exceptional facilities like advanced glasshouses and animal handling systems that mirror professional working environments.
