Develop the expertise needed to launch a rewarding career in teaching English as an Additional Language (EAL) through our globally recognized Master of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) program. With English being among the most commonly spoken languages worldwide, qualified English instructors are in great demand. You'll examine English instruction from an international perspective while acquiring adaptable skills for diverse educational settings, both in Australia and abroad.
Our TESOL Master's program welcomes students from all academic backgrounds, requiring no previous experience in the field. The curriculum offers pathways for aspiring EAL teachers across various global educational contexts, from traditional schools to language institutes serving migrant communities. Current educators (eligible for VIT registration) can enhance their qualifications by adding an EAL specialization.
Throughout the TESOL Master's program, you'll learn from world-renowned education specialists. As part of the Faculty of Education's research community, you'll engage in research-driven studies centered on key theories and discoveries. Designed by accomplished leaders and practitioners, the program emphasizes real-world implementation. Teaching practicums form a core component, providing hands-on experience in primary, secondary, or adult education classrooms.
To be considered for entry into this course, you must have a three-year undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in any discipline.
English language requirements:
IELTS (academic English Only): Overall 7.0 (with written 7.0 and no band less than 6.0)
TOEFL Internet-based test: 94 + ; Writing 27; Speaking 18; Reading 13; Listening 13;
Pearson Test of English Academic: 65 + written communicative skill of 65 and no other communicative skill below 50
Cambridge English: Advanced/ Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): 185 + no less than 185 in Writing and 169 in each other skill
