The Master of Primary Health Care program at the University of Melbourne allows students to pursue an in-depth research project focused on a primary health care subject of their choosing. Participants will work with qualified supervisors and an Advisory Committee to develop a personalized research plan tailored to their academic goals and interests.

Depending on their research needs, students may need to participate in or register for supplementary courses as recommended by their supervisors.

Throughout their studies, candidates must attend departmental seminars. Upon completing their research, students will have gained expertise in applying research methodologies within primary health care contexts. The program culminates in a 30,000-40,000 word thesis evaluated by external examiners.

This program helps students cultivate:
an understanding of primary care epistemology and its foundational frameworks, spanning behavioral science to clinical science; proficiency in executing research methods within primary health care environments.

In order to be considered for entry, you must have completed (at minimum H2A standard or higher): Honours degree in a relevant field; or Postgraduate Diploma in Primary Health Care or relevant field; or A degree in a relevant field. plus At least two years' documented relevant professional or work experience.

English language requirements:

IELTS (academic English Only): Overall 7.0 (with written 7.0 and no band less than 6.0)
TOEFL Internet-based test: 94 + ; Writing 27; Speaking 18; Reading 13; Listening 13;
Pearson Test of English Academic: 65 + written communicative skill of 65 and no other communicative skill below 50
Cambridge English: Advanced/ Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): 185 + no less than 185 in Writing and 169 in each other skill
