The Master of Medicine (Research) program at the University of Melbourne is designed for medical graduates with a minimum of two years' professional experience, including at least two years working as a medical officer in a university-affiliated teaching hospital. This research-focused program allows students to conduct in-depth investigations into specialized medical fields under expert academic guidance.
Program Learning Objectives
The University of Melbourne's Research Masters programs aim to cultivate advanced capabilities in conducting autonomous, rigorous research. Candidates' theses are expected to exhibit sophisticated application of specialized knowledge while making original contributions to their chosen field of medical scholarship.
To be considered for entry, you must have:
completed an approved medical degree of at least two years standing with a minimum H2A average, or higher; and
not less than two years’ experience as a medical officer in a hospital affiliated to an appropriate university for teaching; and
completed the first part of the relevant medical colleges’ specialist training program or its equivalent.
English language requirements:
IELTS (academic English Only): Overall 7.0 (with written 7.0 and no band less than 6.0)
TOEFL Internet-based test: 94 + ; Writing 27; Speaking 18; Reading 13; Listening 13;
Pearson Test of English Academic: 65 + written communicative skill of 65 and no other communicative skill below 50
Cambridge English: Advanced/ Certificate of Advanced English (CAE): 185 + no less than 185 in Writing and 169 in each other skill
