The Master of Law and Development (MLaw&Dev) program enables students to explore how development becomes formalized through law and the influence of global and regional organizations in legal reform initiatives. This program also provides a platform to critically assess both international legal principles and the concept of 'rule of law' within development scenarios.Students can select from diverse courses offering practical, historical, critical, applied, and theoretical approaches.
This program is particularly suited for professionals in international development across government, NGO, or nonprofit sectors, as well as those seeking specialized knowledge as a foundation for advanced research. The program welcomes applicants with both legal and non-legal academic backgrounds.
A degree in law (LLB, JD or equivalent) leading to admission to practice, with a University of Melbourne equivalent score of at least 70, or equivalent or A degree in law (LLB, JD or equivalent) leading to admission to practice, or equivalent and two years of documented relevant professional experience or An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline and two years of documented relevant professional experience or An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline; and successful completion of four subjects in a cognate graduate diploma and one year of documented relevant professional experience.
