The Finance Doctoral Program consists of a two-year Master of Commerce coursework phase, followed by a three-year PhD component.
Exceptional applicants may qualify for substantial scholarships, covering full tuition fees and providing an annual living allowance of AUD 37,000 (based on 2024 RTP rates). All enrolled PhD students receive AUD 15,000 in research travel funding to attend conferences.
Graduate researchers receive financial support to publish in leading national and global finance publications and present at conferences. The Department actively promotes tutoring opportunities for students during their research tenure.

a four-year bachelor degree in a relevant discipline which includes a substantial research component equivalent to at least 25% of one year of full-time study and have achieved a minimum weighted average of 75% in the final year subjects or (University of Melbourne) equivalent, or
a masters degree in a relevant discipline which includes a substantial research component equivalent to at least 25% of one year of full-time study and achieved a minimum weighted average of 75% or (University of Melbourne) equivalent, or
a qualification and professional experience considered to be equivalent.
