The Doctor of Medical Science (DMedSc) is an advanced research degree provided exclusively by the Melbourne Medical School, available to experienced medical graduates from the University of Melbourne and other accredited institutions. This program equips medical professionals with the expertise to conduct independent, in-depth research at the doctoral level. Working under faculty guidance and a departmental Advisory Panel, DMedSc candidates produce a thesis ranging from 50,000 to 80,000 words within a maximum four-year full-time period. Students may complete the program sooner if their academic progress, as evaluated by the advisory panel, warrants early submission.
