As a Bachelor of Oral Health student, you'll acquire comprehensive scientific knowledge, theoretical understanding, and clinical expertise to pursue a career in oral health therapy - encompassing both dental hygiene and dental therapy professions. You'll train alongside dentistry students at the Melbourne Dental School, utilizing advanced clinical facilities. Professional opportunities
Upon completing the program, you'll be qualified to work as an oral health therapist, dental therapist, or dental hygienist.
In these capacities, you'll assess and diagnose oral health conditions, develop treatment plans, implement disease prevention strategies, perform clinical procedures, conduct health education initiatives, and carry out orthodontic and preventive treatments such as taking impressions and applying fluoride treatments or sealants. Your responsibilities will include providing fillings and extracting primary teeth for pediatric and adolescent patients, as well as managing periodontal care, performing professional cleanings, and root planing for patients of all ages. Additionally, you'll take and analyze dental radiographs while collaborating with other healthcare professionals to enhance patient outcomes.
The program emphasizes developing compassionate patient communication skills, designing targeted health promotion strategies for diverse populations, and contributing to community-based oral health initiatives.

English language requirements
TOEFL Internet-based test: total score of at least 94 and scores of at least 27 for writing, 23 for speaking, 24 for reading and 24 for listening; IELTS: total score of at least 7.0 in the Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS), with no bands less than 7.0; Pearson Test of English Academic: overall score of at least 65 and achieve no PTE communicative skills score below 65.
