The Bachelor of Design (Honours Degree) is a rigorous one-year program designed for outstanding undergraduates who excel academically and wish to pursue research. This program serves as a stepping stone toward advanced graduate research degrees, including PhD studies.
Participants in the Bachelor of Design (Honours Degree) can select a focus area within their specialization and undertake an independent research thesis under faculty supervision.
This honors program combines coursework with an extensive research component, offering more autonomy and adaptability compared to standard undergraduate studies. It equips students with the professional competencies needed for career advancement or postgraduate education.

The Urban Planning honors track enables students to pursue advanced studies, culminating in an approved independent research project within their chosen field.
To earn the honors degree, students must maintain at least a 65% average across all subjects.

Qualification Requirements

In order to be considered for entry to the Bachelor of Design (Degree with Honours), students must have completed: An undergraduate degree with a major in Architecture or Urban Planning, or equivalent, with a weighted average mark of 70%. within the last 5 years. Applicants must also meet any specific requirements for entry to the discipline stream they seek to enter. Meeting the requirements does not guarantee selection. Complete the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or an equivalent qualification. IELTS total score of at least 6.5 in the Academic International English Language Testing System (IELTS), with no bands less than 6.0. TOEFL (internet-based): total score at of least 79 and scores of 21 for writing, 18 for speaking, 13 for reading and 13 for listening. TOEFL (paper-based): total score of at least 577 with a score of 4.5 in the Test of Written English.
