Anthropology examines both our shared human experience and the remarkable cultural diversity worldwide. Its unique research approach, involving immersive, long-term engagement with communities, generates insights from local perspectives. Modern fieldwork occurs in urban settings, tourist destinations, or migrant communities as often as in remote villages or island societies. This major explores topics including: cultural views of the body; religious traditions; consumerism; ethnic identity; and concepts of nature, gender, and family. Our program broadens perspectives by questioning assumptions about the world while teaching vital skills for working effectively with people - active listening, critical thinking, and engaged participation in our increasingly interconnected world.
