Designed for science and applied science graduates looking to enhance their research capabilities, this program offers specialized independent research under expert guidance. The Master of Applied Science (Research) provides two flexible study pathways over two years of full-time study: a combination of coursework and thesis, or a thesis-only option.
As a Higher Degree by Research (HDR), it qualifies for the Australian Government's Research Training Program (RTP), offering domestic students tuition fee coverage for the standard program length. Graduates may pursue further academic research through a PhD or explore diverse career opportunities globally, including roles in government and private sector laboratories, as well as natural and environmental services.
To be eligible for admission applicants must have:
a. an Honours degree in science (at H1 or H2A level) or the equivalent in a relevant professional field; or
b. a bachelor degree in science or applied science with above average performance; or
c. a bachelor degree followed by a graduate diploma in applied science; or
d. an Honours degree in science at H2B or H3 level and evidence of a capacity for conducting research at the Masters level.
Academic IELTS of 6.5 or equivalent, with no band score below 6.0; TOEFL iBT: Overall score of 79 with: R: 13; L: 12; S: 18; W: 21; Pearson Test of Academic English: 58 with no skill score below 50; Cambridge English Scale: 176 with no sub-score below 169; Occupational English Test: No grade lower than 'C' in any of the sub-tests.
