The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Fashion and Textiles is designed for those seeking to pursue independent, innovative research within the School's Centre for Materials Innovation and Future Fashion or its specialized research streams.

These focus areas align with faculty expertise, available facilities, and partnerships with industry and research institutions.

Students can choose between two program formats:

Project mode focuses on creative practice research in fashion design, textile design, curatorial work, communication, or interdisciplinary design.
Thesis mode offers either a scientific approach for studying advanced textiles and material science (including protective gear, medical textiles, and performance fabrics) or a social science perspective examining fashion systems, design practices, cultural studies, business operations, or ethical considerations in the industry.
