There is a strong emphasis on laboratory work and professional engineering projects to put theory into practice and to enhance research, teamwork, leadership, communication and project management skills. Note that tutorials and laboratory sessions may run in the afternoon to fit in with the work commitments of part-time students.
The School of Engineering has an Industry Advisory Committee for the Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering course, which is an important link to industry. Membership includes senior engineers from several major national companies and government and non-government organisations.
