This program explores environmental processes and offers specializations in fields like environmental biology, chemistry, and geospatial sciences. Our planet confronts critical issues such as climate change, ecosystem destruction, pollution incidents, and food/water scarcity. Addressing these complex problems demands interdisciplinary expertise combining chemistry, biology, statistics, research methods, and earth sciences. Throughout your studies, you'll engage in practical, industry-aligned activities including:
extensive hands-on training with laboratory and field equipment, regular fieldwork in your second and third years, and collaborative projects that provide real-world experience. These group-based initiatives cultivate teamwork and cooperative problem-solving skills.
The program maintains strong ties with leading environmental organizations including EPA Victoria, Parks Victoria, and Sustainability Victoria. Your final year includes specialized training for environmental careers, featuring team-based sampling across various ecosystems (such as waterways and soils) followed by a capstone research project conducted either at RMIT or through our industry partners.
