This program explores environmental processes and offers specializations in environmental biology, chemistry, and geospatial sciences. Our planet confronts critical issues like climate change, ecosystem destruction, emerging pollutants, and food/water scarcity. Addressing these complex problems demands interdisciplinary expertise combining chemistry, biology, statistics, research methods, and earth sciences. Throughout your environmental education, you'll engage in hands-on learning through:
extensive practical work using laboratory and field equipment, regular field excursions in your second and third years, and collaborative projects that build real-world skills. These group activities emphasize teamwork and cooperative problem-solving approaches.
The program maintains strong partnerships with leading environmental organizations including EPA Victoria, Parks Victoria, and Sustainability Victoria. Your final year includes specialized industry preparation, where you'll conduct team-based environmental sampling (water, soil, riparian zones) and complete a capstone research project - either through RMIT or with an external partner from our industry network.
