The Bachelor of Communication (Media) combines hands-on production skills with theoretical study and industry insights to develop versatile media professionals who are both creative and critically aware. By graduation, your portfolio will showcase your capacity to create, manage, and innovate in a dynamic media landscape. Our alumni are tech-savvy, adaptable professionals who thrive in evolving media settings, working as creative problem-solvers across diverse industries.
An Industry Advisory Committee featuring leaders from top cultural and media institutions guides the program. Students can engage with RMITV, a student-operated TV station airing on Channel 31, or collaborate with independent radio stations 3RRR FM and SYN FM, which maintain close ties to the Media program.
Throughout their studies, students participate in industry projects and complete an 80-hour professional placement. Past host organizations include major networks like 10, 9, and 7, along with ABC, SBS, WTFM, and the Australian Open. Studio courses often involve partnerships with industry and community groups, allowing students to develop real-world projects. Previous collaborators include ACMI, Uniting, Friends of the Earth, the Melbourne International Film Festival, and Sensis.
