QUT's advanced Bachelor of Science program opens doors to a global research career with a world-class qualification. Tailored for students passionate about scientific discovery, this degree prepares you for a future in research. You'll need to have completed Year 12 Mathematical Methods and a Science subject to qualify. Meeting these requirements allows you to dive directly into specialized earth science studies, bypassing introductory units.
The program combines fundamental disciplines including geology, physical geography, and oceanography-hydrology. Through theoretical study and practical fieldwork, lab sessions, and modeling exercises, you'll tackle contemporary research challenges and develop innovative solutions.
Available only to a select group of high-performing, motivated students, this course provides personalized support within a collaborative learning environment. You'll work alongside peers with similar ambitions, guided by QUT's top researchers in state-of-the-art facilities. From your first year, you'll experience genuine research settings and projects, engaging with the scientific community and presenting at QUT's annual Science Research Symposium.
Additional opportunities include expanding your earth science expertise through extracurricular programs like the Vacation Research Experience Scheme (VRES), professional internships, and research assistant roles - all pathways to continue your research journey after graduation.
