As social, political, and economic transformations accelerate worldwide, Asia's role in defining our collective future has become increasingly vital. Strengthening Australia's ties with Southeast Asia stands as a crucial national objective. Our connections with the region—through commerce, academia, industry, travel, and personal relationships—hold tremendous significance. Globally, Asia represents a dynamic force of change. This three-year program enables students to explore Asia's governance, heritage, cultures, markets, media, and spiritual traditions. Students may also pair an Asian Studies major with Indonesian or Japanese language studies to expand their academic scope. For those passionate about global experiences, opportunities exist to study abroad with partner institutions in Southeast Asia while earning credits toward their Murdoch University qualification. The Asian Studies program equips graduates to navigate intricate challenges in both Australian and Asian settings. By learning from top Asia specialists, students cultivate essential intercultural competencies, regional expertise, and critical thinking abilities that government agencies and other organizations highly prize.
