This global dual master's program allows you to fulfill the requirements for both the Monash Master of Interpreting and Translation Studies (MITS) and a complementary degree from one of our partner institutions. Options include France's Jean Moulin Lyon III (focusing on business/legal translation in French), Italy's Universitas Trieste (specializing in interpreting/translation for English, Italian and another European language), Università di Bologna (emphasizing specialized translation), and Japan's Kobe City University of Foreign Studies (concentrating on Japanese interpreting/translation). The program structure involves one year at Monash University in Australia and one year at your chosen partner institution. Upon successfully completing both academic components, you'll qualify to receive degrees from both universities independently. Note that enrollment caps exist for each partner institution. Interested applicants should contact the MITS course coordinator directly for eligibility assessment and application procedures. The MITS program is designed for advanced bilingual students, enhancing translation and interpreting skills between English and another language while exploring theoretical and practical aspects of the field. Coursework covers interpreting/translation theory, specialized terminology, and historical perspectives, while examining linguistic, cultural, and social dimensions of translation. Students pursuing NAATI accreditation in Australia must pass required final exams after their second year.
