The Master of Interpreting and Translation Studies enhances your abilities in both translation and interpreting across English and another language, blending practical skills with theoretical knowledge. Our program holds prestigious endorsements from the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) at multiple certification levels (Certified Translator, Certified Advanced Translator, Certified Interpreter, Certified Specialist Interpreter (Legal), Certified Specialist Interpreter (Health), and Certified Conference Interpreter). Monash stands out as Australia's sole university member of the Conference Internationale d'Instituts Universitaires de Traducteurs et Interpretes (CIUTI), the most respected global association for translation and interpreting education. Designed for advanced bilingual students, the curriculum provides grounding in translation and interpreting theories alongside research training. Graduates will understand these disciplines within historical, interdisciplinary, and intercultural frameworks. Choose between two specializations: Translation (available for Chinese, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish) or Interpreting and translation (offered for the same languages). Professional internships provide hands-on experience, workplace preparation, and networking opportunities to boost career prospects. Industry partners often serve as valuable recruitment channels for program graduates.
