The program covers historical, artistic, technical, and cultural dimensions of music, expands your worldview of musical traditions, and prepares you for professional opportunities in the field. You'll develop specialized knowledge in one of three focus areas: Composition and Music Technology, Music Performance, or Popular Music. Through a holistic approach combining listening, analysis, performance, notation, and composition, you'll strengthen both your aural skills and music theory comprehension. The curriculum blends Western classical and jazz theory with practical implementation while exploring music across diverse cultural, historical, social, and professional contexts. Supplementary electives span from jazz composition to digital music production, from East Asian musical heritage to conducting techniques. You'll be encouraged to excel in your chosen specialization of Music Performance, Popular Music, or Composition and Creative Music Technology. The program culminates with a final assessment showcasing your primary instrument, vocal skills, composition portfolio, music technology project, or scholarly research.
