The curriculum explores music's historical, artistic, technical, and societal dimensions, expanding your worldview while preparing you for professional opportunities in the field. You'll develop specialized knowledge in one of three concentrations: Composition and Music Technology, Music Performance, or Popular Music. Through a holistic approach combining listening, analysis, performance, notation, and composition, you'll enhance both your auditory skills and music theory comprehension. The program blends Western classical and jazz theory with hands-on application, while introducing diverse musical traditions across cultural, historical, and professional contexts. Elective options span from jazz arrangement to digital music production, from East Asian musical heritage to conducting techniques, supplementing both core and specialized studies. You'll strive for mastery in your chosen specialization—Performance, Popular Music, or Composition and Creative Music Technology—culminating in a final assessment of either your principal instrument/vocal performance, a creative portfolio, music technology project, or scholarly work.
