Combining engineering with commerce creates a formidable skillset. Numerous engineers pursue careers beyond traditional engineering roles, venturing into management, finance, and consulting, with many rising to CEO positions in top corporations. Notably, engineers comprise nearly 20% of ASX100 company leaders. This dual-degree program begins with a foundational engineering year, giving you the opportunity to explore different engineering disciplines before selecting your specialization. During this initial year, you'll apply growing mathematical and scientific knowledge to practical challenges while also sampling various commerce disciplines to choose your major - whether in economics, finance, management, marketing, sustainability, or another field matching your professional goals. The program culminates in two distinct degrees: one from the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) options (Aerospace, Chemical, Civil, Electrical and Computer Systems, Environmental, Materials, Mechatronics, Mechanical, or Software) alongside a Bachelor of Commerce. You'll acquire the complete benefits of both programs, preparing you for careers in either field or their intersection. The engineering curriculum's design thinking and systems approach, combined with commerce's analytical rigor, creates an exceptional professional foundation. Our alumni stand out as action-oriented professionals. This dual degree enhances business acumen while reinforcing the leadership qualities engineers naturally possess: problem-solving abilities, strategic planning, future orientation, and commitment to continuous enhancement. Graduates emerge ready to lead projects across diverse sectors including healthcare, infrastructure, environmental management, medical technology, and aerospace. Your education will provide interdisciplinary perspectives to succeed in varied professional environments. To graduate, students must complete 420 hours of professional development through approved internships, engineering employment, or equivalent activities. This experience is documented through reflective submissions demonstrating growth in Engineers Australia's Stage 1 competency areas.
