Blending architectural design with civil engineering enables you to devise innovative approaches to diverse engineering and societal challenges, such as developing sustainable construction methods or upgrading existing buildings for better performance. Upon graduation, you'll possess essential skills for reshaping our physical surroundings. Your capacity to deliver practical solutions through imaginative thinking will appeal to architectural and engineering firms both in Australia and internationally. In architectural design studies, over half your degree involves studio-based learning under the guidance of industry professionals, practicing architects, and academics. You'll work alongside classmates in small teams to address various social and spatial challenges, mirroring real-world architectural practice environments.
No prior design experience is required for the architectural studies, as the first-year curriculum equips all students with fundamental skills in both manual and digital drawing techniques essential for success in the degree program and professional practice.
Career opportunities span numerous fields including architectural technology, licensed architecture (after completing the Master of Architecture), construction and mining firms, civil engineering consultancies, interior design, government agencies, financial advisory services, project management, property development, structural engineering firms, sustainable urban development, and urban planning.
