The Chinese studies curriculum is structured to help you achieve advanced proficiency in Mandarin, including translation abilities. Catering to students at various skill levels—from beginners to advanced speakers, including heritage and non-heritage learners—the program offers tailored language instruction. You'll enhance your speaking, reading, writing, and research skills, with the curriculum designed to foster independent academic exploration in Chinese studies. To ensure optimal placement, all non-beginner students must complete a language assessment before their first semester. Based on your results, you'll follow a structured progression through language units, with the option to participate in an intensive in-country program at each level as part of your learning pathway.
