The Linguistics and English Language major scientifically examines language structure and usage, with a focus on multilingual societies. Monash's program emphasizes global language studies, including English as an international language. You'll analyze linguistic diversity, identity formation, and social patterns across languages like English, applying this knowledge to fields from anthropology to computer science. The English as an International Language (EIL) track explores global English varieties and their intercultural impact.
