Our Bachelor of Arts offers 40 major and minor study options across disciplines like languages, social sciences, communications, political science, human rights, and international relations, allowing you to cultivate deep expertise in your chosen fields. The program culminates in two distinct degrees: either a Bachelor of Art History and Curating or a combined Bachelor of Fine Art and Bachelor of Arts. You'll acquire comprehensive skills to excel in either discipline individually or blend both in your professional pursuits. Opting for Art History and Curating will deepen your knowledge of artistic traditions and their cultural impact, with practical experience in exhibition development and curatorial internships. Career paths include: art historian, curator, independent artist, arts administrator, arts writer, studio director, filmmaker, gallery curator, creative entrepreneur, digital artist, UX designer, film producer, political analyst, human rights advocate, or linguistics specialist.
The Chinese studies curriculum equips students with advanced Mandarin language proficiency, including translation capabilities. Catering to all skill levels from beginner to advanced, the program accommodates both heritage and non-heritage speakers. You'll enhance your speaking, reading, writing, and research abilities through tailored instruction designed to foster independent Chinese studies. Placement tests (excluding complete beginners) ensure optimal class alignment before commencing studies. Students progress through structured language streams, with opportunities for intensive in-country study. Advanced learners can pursue specialized translation coursework alongside core language studies. The program also explores Chinese culture, history, politics, and contemporary affairs, while developing research skills for navigating Chinese-language digital resources.
