This dynamic dual degree serves as your gateway to an international career in creative and cultural arts. Situated alongside the prestigious Monash University Museum of Art (MUMA), you'll collaborate with Australia's leading artists, art theorists, and cultural experts. Our Bachelor of Arts offers 40 diverse major and minor options spanning languages, social sciences, communications, political studies, human rights, and international relations, allowing you to cultivate deep expertise in your chosen disciplines. The program culminates in two distinct degrees: either a Bachelor of Art History and Curating or a combined Bachelor of Fine Art and Bachelor of Arts. You'll acquire comprehensive skills for careers in either field or the opportunity to merge both specializations. Opting for Art History and Curating will deepen your knowledge of artistic movements, their origins, and cultural impact. Practical experience includes exhibition development and professional internships to hone real-world curatorial skills.
Our archaeology and ancient history curriculum examines past civilizations across the Mediterranean region and Australia. Through material remains, we reconstruct ancient societies and explore their contemporary relevance. This interdisciplinary program combines archaeology, history, classics, anthropology, art history, landscape studies, and archaeobotany to offer comprehensive perspectives on antiquity. The core curriculum covers 250,000 years of human history, with specialized tracks focusing on the Ancient Near East (Egypt, Mesopotamia, Persia), Classical civilizations, and Indigenous Australia. Key themes include settlement patterns, political systems, technological developments, economic structures, artistic expressions, religious practices, mythology, and gender studies.
