The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) is a non-graded academic qualification granted for original research that advances knowledge in a specific discipline.
This research may offer novel insights or showcase independent analytical skills by reinterpreting established information from fresh perspectives.
Candidates must produce a thesis of maximum 50,000 words, evaluated by a minimum of two external examiners. The program might incorporate coursework components and participation in research seminars.

Qualification Requirements
The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) is a two year equivalent full-time program, awarded for research that demonstrates that the candidate has made a contribution to knowledge in a particular field of study by presenting new facts or by demonstrating an independent critical ability to evaluate existing material in a new light.
The minimum requirement for admission to a MPhil degree is:
- Completion of a Master of Research (MRes) with at least 65% in second year; or
- A two-year Master degree with a major research component at Credit level (65% or greater).
Peer-reviewed research output may be taken into consideration for admission to the program.
You must also demonstrate your suitability for entry to the program by:
- Including a detailed research proposal.
Entry to an MPhil will also be assessed on availability of appropriate supervision and resources.

- IELTS Academic – IELTS 6.5 with 6.0 in each band
- TOEFL iBT – 83 (Reading - 13, Writing - 21, Listening - 12, Speaking - 18)
- PTE Academic – 58 with 50 in each band
