Developed in collaboration with industry experts, our Master's program equips you with specialized knowledge to address societal and industrial needs for faster, better, and more sustainable infrastructure development. You'll develop analytical skills to solve practical engineering challenges and design contemporary structures, gaining versatile competencies applicable across sectors. The program offers hands-on experience through an optional 800-hour work-integrated learning (WIL) opportunity to establish professional networks. Upon completing La Trobe's Master of Civil Engineering, you will: understand sustainability standards in Australia's engineering sector, hone problem-solving abilities for modern infrastructure design with transferable industry skills, become proficient in material properties for optimal selection, learn soil enhancement methods for more durable construction, develop structural dynamics proficiency for safer buildings, explore sustainable water and waste management solutions, and qualify for Engineers Australia membership.
240 credit point pathway
Successful completion of a non-accredited 4-year bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related discipline.
OR
Successful completion of a Sydney Accord-accredited 3-year Bachelor of Technology in civil engineering or related discipline.
OR
Applicants with non-cognate engineering qualifications who also have practical industry experience in civil engineering will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the Department of Engineering.
AND
Applicants may be required to attend an interview.

Successful completion of an Australian or a Washington Accord-accredited 4-year Bachelor or Bachelor (Honours) degree in civil engineering.
OR
Applicants with non-cognate Washington accord engineering qualifications who also have practical industry experience in civil engineering or related fields will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the Department of Engineering.
