The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) is a globally acknowledged advanced research degree. Students pursuing this qualification conduct extensive independent study on an original subject under expert guidance, culminating in a thesis submission. The research must offer substantial novel insights and innovations within its field. Each candidate receives guidance from at least two qualified supervisors with proven expertise in the research area, as specified in the Graduate Research Supervision Policy. Academic progress is monitored according to the University's Graduate Research Progress Policy, with options for full-time or part-time study (subject to visa requirements).
PhD candidates must demonstrate comprehensive expertise at the cutting edge of their research domain, including original contributions to knowledge. They need skills to critically evaluate relevant literature and existing studies, recognize how their work connects to broader academic contexts, and articulate their research's scholarly impact.
Additionally, candidates must be capable of thoroughly assessing pertinent literature and current research, grasping how their investigations relate to wider knowledge frameworks, and clearly demonstrating their work's academic significance.
