Early childhood education and care (ECEC) represents an academic and practical discipline focused on fostering optimal development in young children. ECEC benefits both families and communities by improving children's cognitive abilities and emotional intelligence, while also enabling parents and caregivers to maintain employment. The one-year Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood Education provides comprehensive training in child development, teaching methods, curriculum design, and professional standards. Students will cultivate essential capabilities including analytical reasoning, self-evaluation, and ongoing career growth. This program immerses participants in early childhood teaching through a blended curriculum merging hands-on experience with theoretical foundations, leadership training, and advocacy work, all framed within modern, play-centered educational philosophies. Practical placements offer real-world learning environments where students can implement and refine their knowledge across diverse early childhood settings. Through classroom instruction, digital coursework, and supervised practice, learners will bridge conceptual understanding with practical application.
To be admitted to the Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood Education, you must have an Australian bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in any discipline.
