The Master of Science (Physics) program caters to students with a strong physics foundation, offering pathways for advanced academic pursuits or expanding expertise in contemporary applications. This curriculum enhances students' existing physics knowledge, research capabilities, and professional competencies. Graduates gain not just theoretical and practical physics skills, but also develop awareness of ethical obligations and the societal, economic, cultural, and environmental impacts of physics worldwide. The program's projects and coursework tackle current industry and societal challenges, equipping graduates for physics-related careers or further research studies. Typically undertaken in the final year, the master's research thesis hones technical, communication, and investigative abilities. Students conduct specialized research under faculty supervision, with opportunities to explore cutting-edge topics in the field.
Applicants must normally hold an approved bachelor degree or equivalent with a major in physics or a closely related discipline from an approved tertiary institute. The Master of Science (Physics) is not available to students who hold an honours degree in the same discipline.
