The Master of Science (Mathematics) program caters to graduates holding degrees in mathematics or statistics, or those who have completed foundational mathematics courses, such as mathematics majors within science or engineering degrees. This program enhances your current mathematical, statistical, research, and professional competencies. It deepens your expertise in mathematics and statistics while exploring their societal, economic, cultural, and environmental implications worldwide, alongside the associated ethical and professional obligations. The curriculum is tailored to tackle contemporary industry and societal challenges, equipping you for advanced research studies or careers in diverse fields that highly value mathematical and statistical expertise.
Applicants must normally hold an approved bachelor degree or equivalent in mathematics or statistics or a closely related discipline from an approved institution. Applicants with an approved degree that contains substantial mathematics or statistics (equivalent to at least first-year level mathematics topics at Flinders) are also eligible to apply. The Master of Science is not available to students who hold an honours degree in the same discipline.
