The postgraduate TESOL program focuses on building expertise and practical skills for teaching English to non-native speakers. These courses provide foundational knowledge in second language learning while specializing in English language instruction methods. By blending theory with practical teaching techniques, the curriculum prepares you for real-world classroom scenarios as a future TESOL educator. You can choose to complete the Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages program through on-campus classes, online learning, or a hybrid approach.
Earning a Graduate Diploma in TESOL involves one year of full-time study (or part-time equivalent). This program is administered by the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences.
The diploma connects with both the shorter 18-unit Graduate Certificate and the more comprehensive 72-unit Master's degree in TESOL, with coursework structured to allow seamless advancement through all three qualification levels.
Applicants must normally hold an approved bachelor degree or equivalent qualification from an approved tertiary institution.
Graduates already with a Bachelor of Education or Master of Teaching are specialised into English as a Second Language (ESL)/Languages Other than English (LOTE).
Students are strongly encouraged to check employment requirements and conditions with potential employers before enrolling in a TESOL course.
